Quick Request: Words of Encouragment

Next week I will be participating in a retreat for victims of the armed conflict in Colombia being organized by the Mennonite Brethren Church in Chocó.

Chocó is one of the provinces with the highest rates of poverty and its citizens have lived through decades of violence from all the armed groups in Colombia.

As part of the workshop we would like to share with the participants words of encouragement from around the world.

Would you take just a minute to write just one or two sentences of encouragement for us to share? Please include your name (just a first name is fine) and your church/city/state.

If you're receiving this via email, you can reply via email... or if you're seeing this on my blog or Facebook, feel free to just use the comments section.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Dios bendiga a los amigos cristianos de Choco.
Our prayers are with you, especially on this week of Days of Prayer and Action for Colombia. For you we pray for strength and for the sure knowledge that God is with you, walking with you on the difficult paths, the valley of the shadow. We will continue to pray and speak for you here. You are not forgotten, and your courage inspires us.

May God give you all the courage and wisdom to listen, love, and heal. Because He is risen we have been given the courage to look into the tomb with hope. Because He lives we have been given light even in the most darkest places. God bless the people of Colombia and their work towards reconciliation. God bless you, Rev. Joel M. Saucedo, DOM Board Member

May God's resurrection power be at work in your life together. May a new day emerge for you when all around you discouragement may try to get the upper hand. May the loving power of God give you more than you need in these days, that you may discover the new thing God is fashioning even now. And may you know that you are not alone. Your brothers and sisters around the world hold you in their prayers. Pastor Dave Long-Higgins, WCM Board Member

"Comfort, comfort my people," says your God. "You are my servant. I have chosen you and not cast you off. Fear not for I am with you. Be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand."
"For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, 'fear not, I will help you.'"
-Isaiah 40:1, 41:9b-10,13

Blessings and prayers to you.

God's presence is all around us- He was with us throughout our past, walks with us in the present, and promises to go forward with us in the future. God is found in the Creation around us and within each of us, He is the great I Am, and we can find comfort in knowing that God not only travels with us on our journeys, but is also there waiting for us in the future.

And knowing that God is love, we can therefore say that Love is all around us. Love was with us in our past, surrounds us in the present, and will to go forward with us in the future. Love is found in the Creation around us and Love is found within each of us. We can find comfort in knowing that Love not only surrounds us on our journeys, but is also there waiting for us in the future.

Love is patient, love is kind. Love never fails.
God is patient, God is kind, and God never fails.
1 Cor. 13:4 and 8
